This message was preached on Thanksgiving Sunday 2021.
Reading the New Testament and early church history we discover that the early church was a thanksgiving church. In fact, in Ephesians 5:18-20 the apostle Paul says that one evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit is gratitude. That's is true at the individual level and also corporately. We also discover that a truly grateful person is one who alwasy gives thanks, not just when things are going well. No wonder Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote, "It is only with gratitude that life becomes rich."
This sermon ends with a 21 day gratitude training challenge: find three things for which you are grateful every day. As you do that, you will not only become a happier person, you will also reflect God's character and love to those around you.
