In this sermon, Pastor Bert gives five questions to ask oursleves when discerning/testing a "voice" we think is from God. It is a wise practice commanded by the Apostle John in his letter (1 John 4.1).
1. Does it agree with the Bible? (Luke 21.33)
2. Does it assist in becoming more like Jesus? (Rom. 8.29; Phil. 2.5; James 3.14-17)
3. Is it affirmed by my church family? (1 Thess. 2.11-13; Prov. 11.9)
4. Is it accurate to how God made you? (Eph. 2.10; Rom. 12.6)
5. Does it apply conviction or condemnation? (John 3.17; 1 John 3.20; Rom. 8.1; )
6. Do I achieve God's peace about it? (1 Cor. 14.33; Phil. 4.6)
